11 window golde sunroof 1966

So before the engine could go back in , new seals needed to be placed .

New seals in , starter back in place and new fuel lines .

And then it was time to put the engine back where it belongs

once everything hooked up it was time to get it started. So ignition on and ...

NOTHING :( .  checking everything , all looked ok so again bus still nothing . So we pushed it to start an that went fine

But this didn't solve the problem offcourse . So 2 little problems.

first the starting problem . and second the red light in the dash keeps burning .

Hope i can get these problems solved before Budel

Also the front is now all done and shiney . better pic will follow when the bus starts and drives the way it should

Picked up the engine today , and some seals for the engine bay .

lets hope this can go in today and runs by tonight .

Started sanding down the nose off the bus . The blue went pretty fast and saw no problems , only a little bubbles around the headlight bucket

Now the white is an other story . As i new the nose was resprayed once , the white wasn't done verry well . It was pretty rough and needed faltted out first . So out came the P800 sandingpaper to flatten the paint. A pain in the ass job to do . First dry then wet , then wet with P2000

It's hard to see on the pictures but it was rough . Now everything is as good as flattened and ready to polish up again .

Also i saw while cleaning the front i have the cutout's on the upper windowframes to place safary window's . So these will be probably the next thing on the list . But this won't be for any time soon , as i just blow the turbo off my daily driver and also needs new disc brakes and some other things . (big costs on the daily :(  )

I didn't remove the badge because the inside off the bus is completely wax oiled and i didn't want to brake any off the clips .

As i'm still waiting for my engine :( , i started too clean up the drivers cabin . After removing the passengers seat and the grey mat underneath i saw some nasty things

so started cleaning all that mess

After the full cleaning it was time to give it some protection . First primer and then some white .

not a superb job , but it's hided under the seat so. only wanted it to be protected for the time being

hopefully tomorrow it's engine time . fingers crossed

Went to Classic VW Parts today to see how it was with the engine and bring them my exhaust so they could do a testrun .

They had some lovely cars on display

And one i like verry much , the einser golf with twingo sunroof build in .

now the engine . The exhaust wil get a blast and some black paint so it matches the rest off the engine . put some oil in , and testrun tommorow. If all goes well i should have it back on tuesday .

Ok finally we are done (except for the nose because it's too dark inside the garage )

So the bus had , a sanddown with P2000 , then P3000 pads on a polishing machine . After that polish with a white compound to take out some scratches and then the grey compound to make the paint all shiny again . It's alot off work and time consuming but the endresult is just how i like it .

So that's it . Only the front to do . wheels , interior , engine .

had news about the engine too . Tomorrow i will be bringing them my exhaust so they can test run . With a little luck i can take it home with me .
